This painting represents the state of mind I found myself a couple of years ago. The keyhole represents the mind, the woman represents the people, and the black & white represents how everything seems meaningless. She cries because she can’t feel anything. She’s stuck but doesn’t know how to ask for help. She’s tired, but can’t rest. The only thing she sees is the keyhole, the reason she is stuck, but also her only way to freedom. However, the longer she stays there, the smaller the hole gets.

My name is Camila, I’m 20 years old and I’m Brazilian. I moved to the USA 2 years ago, and it was one of the hardest moments of my life. I’m a self-taught artist. I’ve been drawing since I knew how to grab a pencil, and that helped me a lot in my process of adapting in a different country and culture. Art has always been my favorite way to express myself, and one of my biggest dreams is to inspire people through my paintings
