Welcome To PURPLE OCTOPUS ART LLC
We provide a platform for art and expressive writing that addresses human disease and environmental issues.
Purple Octopus Art, LLC was founded based on the principle of Art being a vehicle for communication, acceptance and healing. Founded by two artists; one who is a Breast Cancer survivor and another whose prior career involved a dedication to patients and healers across various therapeutic areas.
Our organization’s sole purpose is to feature art that is inspirational; art that relays the truth from artists who have experienced or have been impacted by human disease and of the environmental impact of climate change. Our vision is to arrive at profits that will allow us to donate at least 10% (in the beginning and eventually up tp 20%) to charitable causes related to the initiatives we highlight.
When we use the word “Art” we refer to all expressions through music, film, poetry, writing as well as 2D/3D Art.
Through the vehicle of artful expression, we offer hope to patients, healers, caregivers and victims. This website and our products are dedicated to anyone who would like to join us in this endeavor and anyone who needs support from their fellow “partners” and/or a positive moment to remind them of the power of resilience.
We invite you to view virtual galleries, read about experiences through our blog, and experience the journeys of anyone who has been touched by these ailments. Portions of this work are also available through publications that will be available for purchase.
Sponsorships are available if you would like to partner with us across any or all of these endeavors. For more details in this regard, we invite you to view our sponsorship page and/or email info@purpleoctopusart.com
WHY THE COLOR PURPLE?
Purple combines the calm stability of blue and the fierce energy of red. While the color purple is often associated with royalty, nobility, and luxury. It also represents power and ambition. creativity, wisdom, dignity, devotion, peace, and magic (which we like to think of as miracles).
Artists and writers who participate in our Calls for Art demonstrate their creativity, and impart their wisdom in meeting challenges with devotion, dignity and achieving a sense of peace (acceptance) regarding illness. Their ambition in coping with their disease and the power of their journeys offer inspiration for the rest of us who are dealing with similar challenges as patients, caregivers, family, friends and community members.
“Art is a wound turned into light.” —Georges Braque
