Erin Carlisle Meares
Honorable Mention
Erin Meares uses digital photo manipulation and collages of images and scans of abandoned objects and places, weird things, strange animals, and antique dictionaries and magazines. He alternates between digital manipulation of these images and digital illustration, with which he structures and accents the collage composition. Here he also incorporates vector illustration and experiments with typography using his poetry and edited/cut-up journal fragments and symbols.
Erin Meares is a 54-year-old male working out of Lakeland, Florida. He has been making art consistently since he was a child, but he started seriously in 1990 when he was introduced to Dada and Xerox collage. He gradually changed his work into digital art in the 2000s. Through art, writing, music, and video, he has found a way to work through his pain and transmute it and its meaning into a physical medium. He is 53 years old, a husband, and a father of two. He began to show his art publicly in 2022 and has been in shows, galleries, and festivals ever since. His goal for the future is to continue to make art and enjoy as much as possible the absurdity of life.
