Yamira Castellano
My paintings are largely inspired by my reflections on the human experience and how we respond emotionally to our over-stimulating, ever-changing environments. My paintings portray personal feelings as well as observations of those closest to me as we navigate through phases of personal and collective growth. One painting from this collection took over a year and another I made in under a month. This ebb and flow is part of who I am; this emotive collection is meant to honor that.
Yamira Castellano is a part-time artist who divides her time between Clearwater, Florida (her hometown), and Spain (where her parents are from). She has been exploring and developing her creativity using a diverse range of mediums including traditional and digital techniques since she was young (shoutout to Windows Paint). She graduated from the University of Florida with a B.F.A. in Digital Arts and Sciences in 2019 with a focus on Game Design and Animation and since then I have been freelancing as a digital artist. She is a self-taught oil painter who pulls influence and inspiration from classic surreal artists such as Dali and Magritte, as well as the plethora of marvelous artists she follows on social platforms.
