This image was painted during a time of deep depression. As an artist with bipolar disorder, I often use my art as therapy. I find that expressing my emotions through art helps me to push out the demons that come from the struggle of depression. In this piece, I was searching for a way to pull myself out of the darkness. I was struggling with the loss of my father and the loss of my job at the same time which seems to pile on the struggle I was already having with the cyclic nature of bipolar disorder.
