Solitude
Photography - 20 x 16 inches
Solitude bears witness to my cancer journey of being triple negative, BRCA 2 positive. The beauty and mystery of human life. This self-portrait captures the loss, curiosity, and questions that arose daily through the year-long struggle of keeping hope alive and daring to see the world in a different way. It seemed almost impossible until it was done. I searched my very soul for the lion inside of me. The holes in my life are permanent but I am never going to lose me.
Cyndi was raised in Colorado, went to college at the University of Washington, and Graduate School at The American Film Institute. She has worked in Film Development at Warner Bros. and Sony Pictures, and has also been a radio personality/producer for many years at commercial radio stations, National Public Radio, and FM Osaka in Japan. Storytelling is the cornerstone of what inspires her. Her passion for photography started with a Kodak Instamatic 110 camera. Since then, her camera has been her trusty companion reflecting the complexity and adversity in the world around her. Her work spans all types of photography from portraiture to street/sports photography to photojournalism. Cyndi is energized to capture the spontaneous humor and peculiarities, which leads her to move through the world with a youthful eye of awe and wonder. Her insatiable curiosity drives her to seek out the unusual and find the un-findable.
