James E. Rice

A journey filled with hateful words illustrates how a person can internalize demeaning and painful language. This is depicted using vivid colors. The assault lingers when the individual obsessively revisits the experience. Negative emotions surface. The person's self-worth diminishes. Lacking a support network, the individual seeks an escape.

Thoughts of suffering, the fear of losing the will to go on, and suicidal ideation now weigh heavily on the person. It’s only a matter of time before something gives.

James E. Rice resides on Long Island in New York. He loves walking and running, has a great passion for hiking in state parks and forests, and deeply cherishes nature.

Previously, James worked as a commercial artist in New York before venturing into self-employment. Born in Virginia, James earned his MA in art from James Madison University, and his M.F.A. from West Virginia University.
